~ Superb quality and almost certainly of German origin
~ Early 20th c. of unmarked manufacture
~ With a light touch or push, the head and neck nods and the beak opens and closes
~ Movement lasts quite a while!
~ Wool flocked hard mache/composition body
~ Glass eyes, painted wings and a fabric ribbon-covered neck opening
~ NOTE --- Part of the left eye iris is broken off beneath the pupil (Photos #1, 2, 8)
~ It is inconspicuous and we never noticed this until enlarging the photos
~ The head, neck and beak are hard and may be wood
~ Upper beak formed additionally with a composition/mache
~ A chip at the front of the upper beak (Photos #4, 9)
~ Soft metal delicate feet; adjust with care
~ Wool loss and surface soiling as shown from age and usage
~ Overall about 3-7/8 in H x 3-7/8 in L x 2-1/2 in across at the widest point
